Sven Birkerts is a leading US essayist and literary critic. He is the editor of the literary journal AGNI, and is a regular contributor to international literary magazines and periodicals. He is the author of, among other works, The Gutenberg Elegies: the Fate of Reading in an Electronic Age; Readings; and a memoir, My Sky Blue Trades: Growing Up Counter in a Contrary Time.
He has taught at numerous American universities including Harvard and is a faculty member of the Bennington Writing Seminars.
