Critical Voices 3 - Programme
VENUE:
DATES Critical Voices 3 and Project Arts Centre present a panel discussion with visiting artists, critics and curators participating in PHILIP: a series of events exploring the political and social dimensions of science fiction in film, architecture and visual art, inspired by the work of Philip K. Dick. PHILIP will consist of a private science fiction writing workshop, a series of public talks, a program of sci-fi shorts and the publication of a new limited edition novel. It will attempt to look at architecture, ideology and socio-political constructions by bringing together a group of international artists, critics and curators whose common language in this instance is their fascination for the world of science fiction. The project will also aim to produce a novel that spans across seven chapters, each chapter representing a day of the last week of the year 2019 in the life of a character (aptly named Philip) who lives in a fictional country named XYZ. After the completion of the workshop, the book will be edited and printed (100 copies) for a launch event at the closing of the project. The book will be produced by the Just-in-Time workshop, New York. There will also be an ongoing screening program of sci-fi short videos/films of about 75 to 90 minutes, on loop, including short films by Beckett, Lynch, Tati and many others. A website, www.philipville.com will include an archive of sci-fi writing collected from over 100 artists, writers, curators, etc.
