Sligo New Music Festival

Model Arts and Niland Gallery, Sligo

Saturday 25 March  4.00pm

Critical Voices 3 presents a contemporary classical music open forum in collaboration with Sligo New Music Festival, which this year takes place from 24 – 26 March. An international panel, chaired by composer and festival director Ian Wilson, will explore the legacy of Luigi Nono and Morton Feldman, the festival’s featured composers. They will also discuss developments in contemporary classical music in a wider context.

Participating in the discussion will be Lamberto Coccioli, Head of Music Technology at Birmingham Conservatoire, composer and former Berio associate; violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan, soloist, chamber musician and founding member of the Callino Quartet (who will perform during the festival); Jürgen Simpson, composer, music lecturer and member of the Jimmy Cake; and Andrew Toovey, composer.

This event is open to the public and admission is free. For booking and programme information please phone 071 914 1405, email tickets@modelart.ie, or see http://www.modelart.ie/newmusic/2006.html.
